Golders Green Crematorium
Posted by Corin Morton - 14 September 2017

Construction works are underway for our project at Golders Green Crematorium, located in North London. CDMS Architects was appointed by our clients to design the refurbishment and extension of their Grade II Listed offices at the site.  Golders Green is one of the first Crematoriums in England dating from 1912, and the existing building forms part of the nucleus of original buildings constructed at that time. The buildings within the Crematorium site feature intricate brick construction including geometric motifs picked out in blue brick – drawing on this inspiration, CDMS Architects has designed a two storey extension to the existing building which references these motifs, alongside using geometric symbology to create a composition of abstract patterns which reference the wider site. The building includes a new reception space, alongside offices, meeting rooms and kitchenette facilities.

Construction is being undertaken by Morton Hale Construction, and due for completion in February 2018.

Wealden Hall House
Posted by Chris Scarr - 5 September 2017

We have completed works on this Listed family home in Surrey. The building was originally constructed as a Wealden Hall House in the 16th Century before a series of Edwardian extensions were added. The building works, completed by Woodmans Construction, have unified the house with the various extensions and outbuildings, creating a modern day family home. A new glass extension helps connect the living spaces to the garden and bring light in to the deep floor plan. For more images please click here.

Planning Application for Residential Development in Eastbourne
Posted by Kathy Kutter - 26 July 2017

CDMS Architects has submitted a Full Planning Application for a new build residential development scheme in central Eastbourne.

The proposals include 10 new residential apartments over 4 floors. The building will replace an existing run down pub and private car park and has been designed to sit cohesively with the surrounding buildings. Clad in a combination of brickwork, dark grey render and fibre cement cladding, the building is stepped to create a dynamic façade that breaks up the overall bulk of the development.

All of the apartments have access to private balconies or gardens and parking spaces have been provided for every unit to reduce the impact on the surround residential area.

The application is due to be determined in late Autumn.

Planning Application in Tulse Hill
Posted by Chris Scarr - 27 June 2017

We have submitted a Full Detailed Planning Application for a new mixed used scheme in South London.

Our proposals include a large commercial space over the ground floor and basement levels, with 9 new residential apartments above. Replacing an existing run-down car garage and forecourt, the new scheme is 4 stories tall and clad in a light red brick to reference the original surrounding Victorian buildings, with a light grey zinc top floor which is stepped back away from the street. The apartments are generously planned with private balconies and a large shared garden at the rear. A planning decision is expected in Autumn 2017 – watch this space.

Planning Submission for Contemporary Farm House
Posted by Corin Morton - 21 June 2017

CDMS Architects has recently submitted its design for a new agricultural workers’ dwelling for detailed planning permission. The project is for a beef farmer client who has been establishing their farming business over a period of three years and is now looking to obtain consent for a permanent dwelling to support the business. The site, located in Wiltshire, sits on the edge of a valley with far reaching views to the east and west – this has influenced the cranked form of the property. The design is for a house combined with a farm office and facilities, arranged over two floors and partially submerged into the landscape. Living, dining and kitchen spaces are located on the upper entrance floor with the farm facilities, with bedrooms located on the lower floor. The house features a mono-pitched anthracite zinc roof, and is clad using a mixture of vertical western red cedar and anthracite zinc panels.

The Beginning of Works at New Park Road

Works are well underway on our mixed use development in South London, as demolition is nearing completion. Planning permission was secured by CDMS Architects in late 2016 and the scheme comprises of a series of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, a mews house and two retail units at street level. We are working closely with the same team involved in our successful Palace Road project to deliver another high-end result. Expect to see more updates as the construction continues throughout the year.
