Planning Approval for Contemporary Extension
Posted by Corin Morton - 21 October 2016

CDMS Architects has received planning approval for the refurbishment and extension of an existing property within the Sussex countryside  The design sees the extension of an existing barn with a brick hipped end, alongside a new contemporary extension which includes a frameless glass entrance, open plan kitchen and sitting area, and two bedrooms at first floor. A master suite is located at the lower ground floor, accessing a private sunken garden featuring a reflection pool. The extension is designed to be clad using a larch rainscreen which forms the external finish to both the walls and the roof. This in turn is separated by a white concrete horizontal band which define each floor. The project is due to commence construction in 2017.

End of Summer Flight
Posted by Corin Morton - 30 September 2016

CDMS Architects took a break from the office to take a flight up the recently opened i360 on Brighton & Hove sea front. The attraction, located in front of the historic West Pier, is the tallest moving observation tower in the world with the passenger viewing pod climbing to a height of 138 metres. CDMS had a great time taking in the views across Sussex and were fortunate to visit on day with clear blue skies. Despite being an eyesore during construction, the finished attraction makes for a positive addition to Brighton’s seafront, with the mirrored underside to the pod in particular being a fantastic feature.
