Planning Permission for New Family Home
Posted by George Gunton - 4 April 2016

Designed for the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pampard House will replace an existing brick built chalet bungalow. The replacement dwelling has been designed to maximise the stunning views to the rear. From the initial conception the design responded to the Chilterns Building Design Guide in order to complement its surroundings and following local materiality studies the house developed into a contemporary interpretation of the guidance.

The internal layout fulfils the key components of the client’s brief for a contemporary family home. The focus of the ground floor is the large open plan kitchen and living space with glazing and external decking orientated towards the key views. This space is also connected to the first floor with a bridged landing overlooking the double height dining area. Other spaces on the ground floor include a snug, a double height entrance hall, guest accommodation and a study. On the first floor are four bedrooms including a master suite with a covered terrace to the rear taking in the views across the hills.

CDMS Architects has been selected to design a new beach café and leisure facility for Beach Green in Shoreham-by-Sea.  Working in tandem with developer Wilbos Restaurants, the design will see the demolition and replacement of a line of existing public WCs with a café/restaurant, kiosk for cycle and boat hire, and external seating.  The initial concept designs draw inspiration from the man made landscape of the nearby Shoreham Fort alongside the views over the local nature reserve of Shoreham Beach and the Adur estuary.  The design will be developed in conjunction with input from the Shoreham Beach Neighbourhood Forum, and in partnership with Adur & Worthing Council.

Listed Refurbishment
Posted by Chris Scarr - 23 November 2015

We have recently completed the refurbishment of this Grade II Listed property which sits on the historic boundary of Brighton and Hove.

The existing interior was tired and dated, with a small kitchen to the rear of the property which was disconnected from the main living spaces.  A new contemporary kitchen has been relocated at the centre of the floor plan, linked to the living room by a large opening which has been reinstated.  The building works also included the general modernisation of the interiors, the refurbishment of the bathrooms and bedrooms, and the reinstatement of the original timber shutters to the front bay window.
