This Grade I listed Town Hall originally designed by Architect John Gibson and built in 1875. The brief was to revitalise the building with a long term goal to re-establish the town hall as the hub of the Council’s local services and as a vibrant centre for a range of other mixed uses. Services will be upgraded throughout most of the building whilst maintaining the listed building’s character and prestige and for this to occur, an in-depth understanding of the building will be required.
Together with the extensive repair and refurbishment to the main hall and spaces, a new bar/café area is proposed for the basement to bring in a regular income for the Town Hall.
