CDMS Architects obtained full planning permission for this development in Autumn 2014. The site is located behind an existing residential dwelling with 19 garages located between two rows of houses. The scheme includes the demolition of the existing garage buildings on the site and the redevelopment of the land to provide a terrace of 4 new build three bedroom dwellings each with an integral garage, refuse store and a private garden as well as the provision for cycle storage, refuse collection and additional on-site car parking.
The proposed massing of the units sits in between the larger three storey terrace to the West and the smaller scaled two storey terraces to the East. The facades have been broken up which adds different levels of privacy and design interest within the scheme. Design solutions to address overlooking issues have been incorporated, these include screening and corner windows to the front and back of all Units. The layouts of the Units have also been designed according to Lifetime homes Criteria and to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
